Southwest Windpower announced today that it is the first distributed wind manufacturer to receive training accreditation from the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC). IREC has implemented the Institute for Sustainable Power Quality (ISPQ) framework of standards and metrics to provide a means to compare content, quality, and resources across a broad range of training programs covering renewable energy, energy efficiency and distributed generation technologies. This international framework ensures legitimacy of what`s being taught and by whom. When certifying training programs, IREC evaluates a variety of criteria including quality of instructors, equipment and safety considerations.
Results of Xcel Energy`s Wind-to-Battery Project View Articles
Back in October 2008, Xcel Energy started an innovative study in which it installed a 1-megawatt (MW) capacity battery (20 50-kW NGK Insulator batteries) near an 11-MW wind farm owned by Minwind Energy, LLC. For the past 21 months the utility has been collecting data and this week it released preliminary results.
